a Choice..!!!

Not that i have forgotten the real reason or the theme i wanted to run my blog on, but jus for the sake of serving my pleasure of taking ample leisure i did miss updating mypages... Dated to sometime older than 11 months from now was a posting from me about a MAD CHOICE, revisting that isnt anything elating but
i did that..

Having landed on a land to which i have been an alien, i have got the deep rooted wish of buying a mobile grow stronger every moment. May be because people around me never let me feel that my passion is not the worth of the few dollars that i have earnt here or may be because of a fact that mobile is a luxury but not a need in US or any o
ther reason that can be taken into, i ke
pt my self away from giving birth to my dreams.. 11 long months of research and review and viewing
demos on the web for every other mobile that could match my techie senses, at last made me
land at a
choice. It wasnt something that new that captured my attention, but because of many constraints and influential surroundings i did make this choice..

Lot of things whirl on the minds of a mobile maniac of this century when he/she has to make a purchase. I would not want you all to deem me that way, yet i leave that as a mandat
e to myself.
Things that were my primary choice drivers:

  • What should i look for in a mobile for it to bear me in the long run.
  • Which OS is likely to keep me elated without any evolution, Symbian/WM/Android/Mac?
  • The most fascinating thing, how new should be the model in my hans
  • How long would a battery recharge last for?
  • On Board memory
  • The make of the body, for it has to withstand my rough maintenance
  • The Keyboard, jus the touch/QWERTY or a normal key pad
  • Last but not the least is the Cost... not in the time of a recession some one would want to make choice that would be wiped off soon
Having all these thoughts on my mind, i had primarily eyed on
  • HTC Touch Fuze which lead to HTC Touch Pro2
  • Nokia Xpress music 5800 which lead to Nokia N97
  • Sony erricssion W595 which lead to a wide range of choices leave me at the mercy of my confused mind

The main bothersome thing in making a mobile purchase here in US, models come with a tie up with carrier and we have hell lot of head aches to g
et off those contracts which cut your wings. Though i know that many have figured out ways to strech the wings, yet i dint have the courage to play with a risk where every thing you do here in US is tied up with my SSN #.

The touch Fuze was a WM phone coming with ATnT and Sprint and the unlocked version costing nothing less that 400$ broke my heart. As time passed by, Pro2 caught my attention and that was when my mind blew out as my eyes dropped onto the price tag of 679$.
I strived a lot to over come all the hurdles and buy that but people around me indirectly kept me reminding about the fact that at a price where a fully loaded perfect laptop would come into hans, taking a mobile is not so worthy. I dint give much attention to that thought but from the day 1 i have landed in here i was always scared for some reason to place an online order cos that doesnt let me feel me as safe as a physical shopping. This fear kept me away and then to add fuel to the fire, the specs of HTC Pro2 showed that it was a hell lot heavier, which was not bothering me but the fact that the body make was having a chrome lining kept me away from making me this choice. For this one good reason, i tried adding up the price tag as another to prevent me from making this choice.

Then came the thought for Nokia 5800 which started appearing on deals for price of around 229$ where the real price in Indian market was 20k INR. I felt that i will go with this one if i happen to see the deal again, as i have missed making it when the deal came for the first time.
Time kept running and i never found a deal that was as low as the first time and one of my friends at office did make the purchase and that have me a chance to make the real review which obviously dint pose pressure to go with this.. I always thought that if i dont have a physical key board to the mobile i own, how much would i have to strive to send SMS to my GF while i am on board a vehicle like a regular auto or a city bus.
But then, one of my seniors who was an apple freak told that it is a wrong thought to look for a physi keypad. He showed me easy ways to make a purchase of a MAD CHOICE -an apple... But i was not much tempted for it had a real bad review from the same persion that the battery recharge doesnt get you thru hard times. Then i dropped my attention on the N97 which did get launched with a price of 699$ for an unlocked version and i thought there is nothing wrong in going with this, as it wasmy fav nokia with an OS that i am already used to. I beleive every one has some corner of the mind that NOKIA is good at battery life. Hence i thought i will not give up this choice but during my review phase i came across a video that showed me that n97 has a chrome lining which would fade off in due course of time. I backed off again this time.

Having a soft corner for the innovatives thoughts of GOOGLE, my attentions swooped down o the nect gen OS - The android. Its good to hear that the OS is evolving but i would not want to sacrifice my dreams for the sake of growth of andriod market which is in the phase of making its place.
The Andriod mobile are coming good in the market, where the latest being HTC Hero and the XPERIA Rachel from SE etc. Its all nice to see them on the web but the simple thing that bothered me about these was - lack of bluetooth file transfer facility. With no second thought i took a deviation from this lane.

I always wanted to taste the beauty of an SE make but hardly had a chance cos the battery recharge doesnt last long and also they dont come with OS and etc etc... I eyed on C905,W995 and tried to wait for the Satio /Idou but having heard about the specs
i kept it off my thoughts for it dint have a QWERTY key board and also the expected price tag showed that it would not be with in my budget range when it would launch in INDIA.

By this time my mind has got narrowed down for a lower priced mobile and the body make made a real remarkable criterion for me in making my choice. Of course, my thoughts for having an OS on the mobile never fell asleep. Started watching for those mobile that would fall on these lines and arrived at an year old launch which was a revolutionary kind for SE mobile... Did make the SE XPERIA X1
as my choice and started reviewing it on the web, day and night like a mad dog.
After a long wait and inspite of some bad reviews that i came across, i took time to find the positive things in that choice and searched for every positive thing that would let the negative down. Thought not the latest, yet a pricy choice for my budget range..

This is the 11 months' choice i made lately. Having spent ample time and patience in making this choice i will strive hard to never let myself down because of the choice i made... I feel good about myself in the matter of how i review things before making a choice..I take time to my time real good..
