divali 2010
Year 2010, has been a remarkable one for me for many a reasons. A new job, new place, new people and many things new all around. Hardly I could realize that its gonna be a long weekend for Divali and I can plan well, before which we got the advanced Divali Gift Packs at workplace and people from cubicles around started rushing to leave for their home towns a day in advance. There were a handful of people who did stop by my place to wish me on the eve of Divali, along which they dropped in a question for sure, "Are you not leaving to ur place?". ...... a long pause after which all I could do was make up a reason that my home is far away in Orissa and needs a travel that would kill most of two days in the long weekend, which could help me cover the real reason i.e. my laziness to plan and arrange my travel and take pain to have fun..
Scarcely I could know about the fact that all my room mates are gonna leave for their homes as well, leaving the room with me alone in there, when I got a colleague of mine who did force invite me to join their family for this year celebrations of DiVali. It was a real hard move for me to say a 'No', for it was a sweet invite regardless of what discomforts I would face as I do as invited. Hence with a 'No' kinda 'Yes' I decided and came to office with all lil luggage needed to make my stay at their home for a day or a lil more.
Nothing later than the afternoon lunch time at office, we both sat to plan on how to leave from office a lil earlier than any other day and have quite a lil fun before we reach the final destination of the day. But alas, a broken pipe at office ate all the time of a few people who had big plans alike. Cribbing about the work, we did spend time more than any normal working day. At last we started from office at about 7:30 PM, met a couple of frens at CCD and spent an hour. With a few breaks in the journey we did reach home at around 10:00 PM. It was when I saw a brat at work place turn into a 'bahu' (hindi) and silence was all I could carry with me. There was a mild smile on my face to show up myself to all the Strangers at there. I was silently counting minutes for all others at home to fall asleep before I could end up having any embarrassing moments there. You know the so called Shy Boy kinda nature rite!!.. ye, it was all the same all thru. Jus before making my bed, she did a little talking to add comfortability and see the real Sravan who she always saw at workplace, but alas, she didn't know that all her pain would go in vain...
The night passed, the day arrived and it was for the first time that I got to know that people celebrate Diwali here in the morning unlike the way we celebrate at my home. As a guest at home, I was left in a luxurious a/c bed room to sleep till I wake up all on my own. Well, I didn't do any delay in waking up which I did at 7:00 AM, by when the real Diwali was over. With no questions and concerns I did finish brushing, bathing myself and then I appeared before all in my new clothes jus to receive complements that I was real quick in getting ready!.. Of course I did, in fact I had to... With a very nice idly that I did taste at Chennai in all my life we finished the breakfast, we did move to fire some crackers (bombs) which I was scared of, as always. Jus by being a silent spectator I did spend my next hour which is when there was an !dea of going to the move Golmaal3 came up. Tickets were booked in minutes. Post Iunch, we did reach the theater, in a car where I could hardly mingle into any discussions. The movie was nice with quite good comedy at many instances and it was for a whole lot of time pass... At the end of the movie, I went into a clear confusion where I didnt know if I should be sad that the movie ended quick or feel sad that it didnt last any longer than it did. However, we finished two movies, in two teams and reached home and rushed to the terrace to light up more crackers and see them glow in the dark. Bahu got dressed in a new saree and mad she was like a kid to rush in with her new clothing to have fun with the crackers. In not more than an hour we ended up the cracker session and got down for dinner and then was the play session where I was taught how to play cards. That was fun when I won :)... Easy it was to end the day with the games played.
Next morning, was my planned last session at their home. I was neither quite happy that I can breathe easy after I come out of there nor sad that I am gonna miss a whole lot company and spend time in solitude after I return to my place. Every minute at there I was stressed by the thought that I might be a disturbance to their plans and moves and for that lil reason, I had to be happy to return to my place. With jus another item planned for the day, we did go to one other colleague's place. That visit was like a dessert after a heavy lunch. Jus a great dessert does, that visit was nice and awesome. There was a cute kid of 6 months old who added beauty to every second that we spent there. After a stay of an hour we did come out and I was waved a 'bye' with a regular ease. I didnt feel anything like I was missing till I boarded the train. But after I reached my place, it was like hell that I entered. No one to talk with and none to smile with me. After real long time felt loneliness in real sense. May be I started realizing that I was missing my family and a true company..
In solitude, I did nothing more than missing the fun I would have had if i didnt return, unlike planned. Seriously, it was a real nice effort worth fetching any appreciation that I could make for her efforts in making me feel at home where I was amongst whole bunch of people whose language I hardly new. Every word she talked to pull my legs and every act of hers to make me feel good is really awesome. In some corner of my heart, I felt that I could not make her feel happy about my happiness but then things kept on moving...
This post is dedicated to Mrs Divya (& Vinod) who made my time this DiVali. Never had one like this at my workplace, till date. Thanks a lot Divya... and this is no Diwali for me.. its DiVali.. yuppy!!
